Things I’m loving recently…

As spring finally arrives in the UK, the lighter nights, and (slightly) warmer days have triggered a whole new range of obsessions!

I love nothing more than to embrace the cosy, the wholesome, and the little-bit luxurious!

Journaling

My anxious brain often struggles to switch off, overthinking the “what ifs” of the day.

One thing I have tried to make a healthy habit of at the end of each day is making a short list of the things I am grateful for. I have made a conscious effort not to make it heavy, or too deep, but just a list of simple things that have brought me joy.

Examples have included “successful reverse parking”, “Grandma’s rice pudding”, and “a Monday morning lie-in”.

These have served as really pleasant reminders of a specific day, helping me to end the day with real, tangible moments, instead of festering on hypotheticals. I can also look back at the diary and remember the things that would have got lost among the “big” events.

I now find myself looking at things differently, searching for the good things in every day and thinking of what I will write down, romantising simple successes and taking time to feel proud.

Alongside this, I have tried to be more intentional in other parts of my routine as well.

Beauty

I’m a beauty product obsessor, and I believe there’s nothing better than a Boots haul. I’m a huge lover of OUAI hair and body products, and am a recent convert to the Palmer’s Tahitian Vanilla body lotion. I can only liken it to the smell of my favourite Donutelier Vanilla croissant – and who wouldn’t want to smell like one of those?!?

I have found recently though, that it’s more about the time you take to care for your skin and body that matters. I’ve finally stopped treating getting ready as a means to an end, and more of a self-care ritual.

Bread!

I made bread! It’s officially a new love of mine. My rosemary focaccia debuted to rave reviews (even if I do say so myself) and the satisfaction of making it from scratch was unmatched.

An old-fashioned letter!

One of my closest friends has recently relocated to Australia, and as heartbreaking (for me) as that is, our correspondence via traditional letters has been incredible.

It brought me so much joy to receive her updates through the letterbox, and writing a response was very therapeutic. I can’t wait for many more to come!

So, this is just a little snapshot of what’s been making my days a little bit lighter lately. What have you been loving recently?
